Irene Hamburger

As Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture’s Director of Education, Irene Hamburger amplifies and guides the development of experiential and experimental learning environments and activation of internal and public programs.

Irene joined Blue Hill in the early 2000s and served as a senior member of the Blue Hill and Stone Barns Center opening team, directing the restaurant and farm’s introduction to local and national audiences.

Prior to coming to Blue Hill, Irene was the director of operations for a United States Senator. Upon the Senator’s retirement, Irene entered the private sector as an employee relations officer for an international bank.

In 1998, Irene graduated from the French Culinary Institute and turned her lifelong fascination with food and cooking into her profession.

On the side: Irene serves on the board of Emma’s Torch, an organization that empowers refugees through culinary training, and the Pleiades Network, which inspires, recognizes and advances women’s leadership in creating a more sustainable world.
