Kristi Kaye, nicknamed Kaat, is a Beekeeper and Perennial Coordinator at Stone Barns Center. Kaat was born and raised in the Hudson Valley. Her love for bees began when she managed to convince her parents to get her a colony of bees for her thirteenth birthday.
With a backpack as her home, Kaat spent five years traveling and working with various beekeepers and small farms all over the country. While working with migratory beekeepers in the almond orchards of California, she witnessed the true costs of conventional agriculture. This deepened her passion for supporting local regenerative food systems.
On the side: Kaat enjoys tending her own apiaries, hiking with her dogs, and learning how to preserve and ferment her garden’s bounty.
