Tony Chen is a livestock farmer at Stone Barns Center. His interest in sustainable agriculture and animal farming practices has inspired him to work with local farms wherever he has lived. As an adventure travel leader in Asia, he observed farming practices in villages along the Ho Chi Minh Trail in Vietnam, in the rice paddy fields of South China, and in the traditional farming villages by the Great Wall of China. He also spent time learning from sheep farmers in New Zealand and cattle farmers in Colombia.
On the side: Tony is currently studying at Columbia University, majoring in American history. In addition to exploring traditional farming, culinary traditions, tea, and traveling, he is interested in understanding the economic history of how natural resources are managed.
