Our 2020 Young Farmers and Cooks Conference addressed the full, complex set of relationships that get food from field to plate, bringing in conversations that address the intersections of farmer and cook, processor and seed keeper, baker and butcher. We were honored to welcome participants from across the globe to our first all-virtual conference.

Long before chefs conceive a dish, and even before farmers plant their fields, plant breeders write the recipe for our ingredients: what they look like, what they taste like, how they perform in the field and the marketplace. Chefs, growers, and breeding experts came to the table for a conversation spanning seed, field, and kitchen.

In this conference, we explored opportunities for cross-sector movement building to achieve just food systems.

Hundreds of beginning farmers from across the United States gathered at Stone Barns Center for Food and Agriculture in Pocantico Hills, NY to learn from agricultural luminaries, peers, and advocacy organizations at the Young Farmers Conference.
