Season extension greenhouses have become standard additions to vegetable farms in the Northeast, but their importance as an innovation is often underappreciated. Greenhouse Manager Daniel Bartush will walk you through the methods and processes used to start seeds at Stone Barns Center, while demonstrating the tools and materials needed. Seed selection, watering, heat, hardening off, and the challenges of working in a propagation space will all be discussed. During this event, you will perform a hands-on propagation activity with a plant to take home.
